FAQs
What is Mental and Emotional Release® (MER) therapy and how does it work?
1
Mental Emotional Release®, or MER, is a process that helps you unpack and release the negative emotions and limiting beliefs stored in your unconscious mind.
How is a Personal Breakthrough Session different from regular therapy or life coaching?
2
MER is focused on root-level change vs. symptom management.
Unlike traditional therapy or coaching, which often focuses on processing experiences, managing symptoms, or developing strategies over time, MER works directly with the subconscious patterns, emotions, and limiting beliefs driving the issue. Many clients experience significant shifts in just 1–2 sessions without needing to spend months or years revisiting the past.
MER doesn’t require you to relive trauma or share every detail of painful experiences. Instead, the focus is on the pattern behind the problem—the context, not the content—allowing change to happen without re-experiencing the emotional intensity.
The goal isn’t just symptom management; it’s releasing the emotional charge and beliefs that created the pattern so you can move forward with a new internal baseline.
How many sessions will I need before I see results?
3
Many clients experience significant shifts in just 1–2 sessions.
Can these sessions be done over Zoom, or do they need to be in person?
4
Yes, sessions can be done over Zoom. Sessions can also be in person on a case by case basis.
Is this approach effective for trauma and PTSD?
5
MER can be a powerful approach for working with the emotional impact of trauma because it focuses on the underlying emotional patterns and beliefs that continue to influence how someone feels, thinks, and responds today.
Unlike approaches that require you to repeatedly revisit painful memories or retell the details of what happened, MER works with the way the experience is stored emotionally. The goal is not to erase the memory, but to reduce the emotional intensity attached to it so the past no longer has the same level of control over your present.
By creating a sense of distance and safety while processing these experiences, clients can begin to shift long-held fear responses, limiting beliefs, and emotional patterns that may have developed from trauma.
MER is not about forgetting what happened—it’s about changing your relationship with what happened so you can move forward with greater freedom, clarity, and emotional regulation.

What is the difference between a Rapid Rewire Session and a full Breakthrough Session?
7
A Rapid Rewire Session is a focused 90-minute session designed to identify and release a specific limiting belief, emotional block, or pattern that is impacting you right now. It’s a targeted experience for creating a powerful shift around one specific area.
A Personal Breakthrough Session is a deeper, more comprehensive experience that allows more time to uncover and work through the bigger patterns underneath the challenge. We take a more detailed look at the root of what is keeping you stuck, explore the deeper emotional connections, and create a more expansive shift.
What certifications does Heather hold and how did she get into this work?
8
Heather is a certified Master Practitioner of Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), Master Practitioner of Mental and Emotional Release® (MER), and trained in Hypnotherapy. Her work combines these modalities with a passion for helping people understand the deeper patterns, beliefs, and emotional experiences that influence how they show up in life.
Heather’s journey into this work came from her own desire to understand why people continue to repeat patterns, feel stuck, or struggle to create change even when they consciously want something different. Through her own personal growth and exploration of the mind, she discovered the power of working with the subconscious and emotional foundation behind behaviors and beliefs.
This led her to specialize in helping others uncover the deeper root of what may be holding them back and create meaningful shifts through accelerated, alternative therapeutic approaches.
Do you work with clients outside of the Vancouver, WA area?
9
How do I know if I am ready for a breakthrough session?
10
Yes, clients from all over are welcome to sign up for sessions.
You may be ready for a Breakthrough Session if you feel like you’ve done the work, gained awareness, or tried different strategies—but something deeper still seems to be holding you back.
Maybe you keep repeating the same patterns, feel stuck in an area of your life, notice a gap between where you are and where you want to be, or find yourself reacting in ways you don’t fully understand.
A Breakthrough Session is for those who are ready to look beyond the surface and explore the deeper beliefs, emotions, and subconscious patterns influencing their thoughts, behaviors, and results.
You don’t need to have everything figured out—you just need to be open, willing, and ready to create a shift.
If you feel like there is “something more” available to you but you can’t quite access it on your own, this may be the right next step.
